Steve Thornton
Steve Thornton is senior lecturer in mathematics education at Charles Darwin University. He previously worked at the University of Canberra and as Director of Teacher Development at the Australian Mathematics Trust. He taught mathematics in government and independent schools in SA for twenty years and in Papua New Guinea for two years.
He has a particular interest in numeracy across the curriculum, having provided advice to the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority and been involved in research projects in the ACT. His current research focuses on epistemological questions in mathematics and mathematics education, and the impact of beliefs about knowledge production on curriculum.
